Yesterday as I was googling for cool apps for Mac, I stumbled upon this great app called QuickSilver and installed it on my machine immediately (my darn broadband connection was just 1 snailpower i guess..sigh T_T). On my other laptop (well, actually it is my office’s laptop :D) running on Microsoft’s Windows Vista, I have Launchy as my launching tool, pretty handy in a sense that you don’t need to browse over and look for the app which you want to run. You just hit a hot key and viola! my launcher pops up, waiting for me to key in the name of file or app which I want to open and then I hit Enter. Same goes with QuickSilver. Only QuickSilver is not your average launching tool ;). Through the duration of your use of QuickSilver, it “learns” about what you frequently search and launch on your machine thereby giving you more precise suggestions. Also, it associates and suggests several actions which you can do with the app or file you are searching for, which is by the way customizable in its preference window. Samples of such actions are to edit a file (text or image) using editors you have in your system, send a file as attachment through email, move a file to the trash bin, and a whole bunch more!! 🙂 As QuickSilver’s tag line says, based from Lao-tse’s words of wisdom, Wei Wu Wei (Act Without Doing). Now isn’t that rocking cool!! 😀 Well, apparently you still need to do something to get things done, only you get to act less and do more with QuickSilver. 🙂 You might want to check it out at Blacktree‘s site. Enjoy! 😀
